One more for the road

22 01 2008

This is my last update until I reformat my computer. A few Backgrounds of Lost Chance and a couple more ‘mechanical’ designs.

While I love Giant Robots, I’m trying to put a different spin on massive mechanical beasts, in how they work or what they are, if not so much in design. They’re much more akin to ancient Golems more than anything else. This story takes place in 1885, so futuristic design is out.

Everyone knows you’ve got to pose before taking on the enemy.

Till next time.

A little Background…

Here are a couple of shots of the small old west town of Lost Chance. I have 2 more to post later thanks to an uploading snafu. Se la vie

Background Beginnings

14 01 2008

I should be acquiring a scanner of my own fairly soon, as the one I’ve been using is very limited in my access of it…

Here’s the start of the backgrounds. Designing an old west town is fun!

One nice big character sketchdump

14 01 2008

This is the last of the character sketches i’ll be uploading. I’ll probably upload a few color designs for them soon, but next is background design.

cheerio!

That you ARE a character, doesn’t mean that you HAVE character

More Design. Moving forward. Mostly when the dog is asleep. He always wants something, I swear. Heh. I wish this could be the kind of place where I can spill all my ideas and thoughts on this project, but on something that can be so public, to post certain precious ideas would be folly. After all, this is to help me get at least one story out of my head by my own hand, and to help keep me motivated in said direction. It was not made so that some jerk could steal and hackney what i’m trying to express. Oh yeah, it should go without saying, but never does. All works copyrighted Jon Haeffner 2008. word.

A very good place to start

5 01 2008

A new year, a fresh start. In theory.

So, I figure, I need a way to motivate myself, and keep track of everything, and push further on projects that have been swirling around in my head, but trickling out too slowly. That’s the thing though, with one visual idea, come more concepts, stuck upstairs, waiting to come down.

Here’s always a good challenge: trying to clamp down on decisive character designs, and trying to keep a style between all of them.

Cheers!
